Mrs. Bruria Lapin-Martin, Principal
Bruria Lapin Martin has had a rich experience in education spanning many countries: South Africa, the US, Eastern Europe and Germany, before making aliyah. She holds a first degree in Philosophy with a minor in Psychology, and received her Masters degree in Philosopshy from Tel Aviv University. Bruria has always been passionate about education. Her life's goal is to help maximize the potential of each of the wonderful students she is blessed with.
Rabbi Aharon Wexler
Rabbi Aharon Wexler made Aliyah from NY after high school and studied in the Hesder Program of Yeshivat HaKotel. After Yeshiva, he received his BA in Archeology from Bar-Ilan University and then went back to Yeshivat HaKotel for his Rabbinic Ordination. Rav Aharon went on to earn an MA in Jewish History and is now a Doctoral Candidate in Jewish Studies. Rav Aharon is a popular teacher and lecturer in Jerusalem at many yeshivot, seminaries, and educational programs and is a licensed tour guide of Israel.
Rabbi Dr. Daniel Yelenik
Rabbi Daniel Yelenik Esq. has a diverse wealth of experience teaching courses in history, comparative law, rabbinics, and Tanach to high school and post high school students in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, and over the past four years, here in Israel. Rabbi Yelenik, a member of the Maryland Bar, is a partner in the corporate law firm of Yelenik, Lisbon & Associates. Rabbi Yelenik received his BA with honors in history from The Johns Hopkins University. He earned a MA in Talmudic Law and rabbinical ordination from Ner Israel Rabbinical College, and a Juris Doctorate from the Georgetown University Law Center. Rabbi Yelenik manages to bring to his GMAX Jerusalem classes a range of his professional experiences in both law and rabbinics. For Rabbi Yelenik, teaching is truly an extension of his own grappling with the material; he strives to bring all students into this endeavor through debates and discussions. Rabbi Yelenik believes that it is vital for students to not only learn the course material, but also to respect and appreciate each other's ideas.
Mrs. Liza Kramer
Liza Kramer has worked with teens for over a decade in Australia, the United Kingdom and Israel. For many years Liza specialized working with teens in crisis. She created and managed many programs in Sydney and London and eventually became the Israel Director of a girls program for the largest Jewish organization in the world working with “teens at risk” . At some point Liza became a firm believer in preventative work as the greatest healer and help for teens, she decided to open her own program called “Thrive” that seeks to reach out to kids before they are in crisis and inspire them to find their greater self. Liza is a trained life coach and life skills educator, she holds a BA from the University of NSW, Australia in Media and Communications, and is currently completing her Masters degree in Family Counseling and Psychotherapy. Liza joined GMAX Jerusalem as the life coach where she runs workshops, private coaching sessions as well as a woman’s circle. Liza constantly aspires to teach her students that they are the Captain of their own ship, with passion, commitment, drive and a touch of humor they can reach endless opportunities and conquer many a shore.
Mrs. Helen Gottstein, English Studies
Mrs. Helen Gottstein has been a teacher and lecturer in Israel for the past 20 years. She has been Teaching for Gmax Jerusalem for 4 years and has successfully guided her students through their various exams. Mrs. Gottstein has been the Drama instructor as well and has produced Peter Pan and The Lion King with her students. Mrs. Gottstein has worked extensively in Israeli-Palestinian dialogue, public speaking, cultural differences, service training, and English teaching. In addition, she has never been without a good book in hand.
Mr. Yisrael Guttman, Mathematics
Mr. Yisrael Guttman holds a B.Sc. from McGill university, Montreal, Canada and a B.Ed. from the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Canada. Mr. Guttman has been teaching chemistry, physics and math for 23 years and has taught at the following schools prior to making Aliyah in 2005: Eisendrath International Exchange High School in Israel, Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, Machon Sara High School, Ottawa Torah Institute, Algonquin College and Hillel Academy. Mr. Guttman previously owned and operated a Kumon Centre, an after school math program, for 10 years. Mr. Guttman loves teaching math because he enjoys it and most people hate it! Mr. Guttman particularly enjoys teaching at Gmax Jerusalem because of the variety of students he encounters, and the various skill levels they have. He takes it as a personal challenge to bring everyone up to a high level of competence and skill, regardless of their starting point. Simultaneously, he endeavors to further their commitment to Israel and their desire to build the country.
Mrs. Joanne Yelenik, Social Studies
Mrs. Joanne Yelenik holds a B.A in English with honors in History and an M.A. in English, both from Brooklyn College. She also holds an M.A. in Philosophy with honors in Comparative Literature. Mrs. Yelenik has taught in numerous schools and programs over the years and has developed curriculums in history, political science, anthropology, Holocaust Studies, History of Zionism, The Creation of the State of Israel and Jewish history from the Middle Ages to Modern Times. Mrs. Yelenik is adored by her students and teaching colleagues. Her classes are always interactive and encourage honest and passionate debates. Mrs. Yelenik loves her students and invests in each one individually with great zeal. |
